ALES STENAR

CHRISTINEHOFS EKOPARK 
The ecopark extends around the beautiful 18th century Christinehof castle. The idea of the park is to preserve the typical Swedish cultural landscape here, with open pastures, wetland environments, lush forests and winding streams. If we​​ would turn back time, let's say about 500 million years, so the lands here formed seabeds somewhere between the equator and the South Pole. It is this story that shaped the massive alum shale that you step on when you explore Christinehof's ecopark - perhaps through a taste walk?

A walk here also offers exciting Swedish architectural history. The picturesque half-timbered house Alunbruket is today one of Skåne's most popular cafés and Christinehof's castle itself with its golden, radiance of greatness from the Baroque is a delight to the eye.

CYCLING IN THE EAST 

Sydostleden is one of Sweden's national cycle paths, and is an easily accessible and traffic-safe cycle path that offers both cultural experiences and fantastic nature. It stretches for almost 300 kilometers and offers a wide range of cycling experiences. The trail starts (or ends) in Simrishamn, and takes you through an ever-changing landscape all the way up to Växjö in Småland. In the Scanian part of the trail, you cycle through Kivik's apple orchards, where you can stop and try a cooling Kivik's Apple Cider, before rolling on past picturesque farms, pastures and forests. The whole road offers wonderful views of Skåne's natural and cultural landscape.

GLIMMINGEHUS - SCANDINAVIA'S BEST PRESERVED MEDIEVAL CASTLE
Glimmingehus is located near Simrishamn and has an origin that goes back as far as the year 1499, and a visit here gives a fascinating insight into what life on a castle was like at that time. The old castle was built for combat and has a lot of unique defense devices, such as hatches through which hot tar could be poured over the intruders, drawbridges, moats and a number of other life-threatening traps. The staff also take part in making the story come alive - in the summer you can listen to ghost stories, you can try medieval pursuits, take part in one of the guided tours or just relax in the beautiful herb garden.

GUNNARSHÖGS GÅRD

At Gunnarshög's farm, you can buy the farm's own rapeseed oil and a variety of other products, such as linseed oil, vinegar and various kinds of jams and marmalades. Everything is organic and locally produced, and there is also a small café where many of the pastries are made with the house's oil.

HALLAMÖLLA WATERFALL
Hallamölla is Skåne's highest waterfall, with a drop of 23 meters. The waterfall is a natural obstacle for migration for sea trout who want to play upstream. In the autumn, when the fish are wandering, a desperate battle takes place here against the forces of nature when the fish want to catch up. If you want to see Hallamölla in all its glory, you should visit the place under the spring river, but watch out for slippery rocks and high cliffs.

Follow the red or black trail from Christinehof Castle to get to Hallamölla. There is also parking at Hallamölla.

HAVÄNG
The coast between the small village Vitemölla and Haväng in eastern Skåne has an atmosphere reminiscent of southern Europe, with beautiful sandy beaches and clear beech forests. The area is popular with visitors all year round, and the 5,000-year-old stone chamber tomb Havängsdösen is a famous tourist attraction. In the north, the open grazed heathlands on Ravlunda shooting range expand and in the south, the nature reserve Vitemölla beach slopes take over with grazed, hilly dry meadows. The area offers cool swimming with long white beaches. Sheep, cows and horses graze here, keeping the fields open. If you are lucky, you can also come across one of the llamas out on the moor, whose task is to guard the sheep against the wolf.

A stone's throw from Ale Stenar, between Ystad and Simrishamn is the classic café Olof Viktors. There is also a bakery and a shop, all housed in a charming old four-lane Skåne farm. Tasty pastries and a wide range of good marmalades and jams are available for purchase, and tempting sandwiches are served in the café. Enjoy your coffee in the lush garden, with a tranquil view of fields and meadows.

SANDHAMMAREN

One of Sweden's finest beaches, Sandhammaren, stretches from the small fishing village of Skillinge in the north to Löderup in the south. The long white beaches, dunes and pine forest in the inner parts are welcoming all year round and invite to both play and relaxation. The sand hammer is located at the southeastern tip of Sweden and the current conditions in the sea are particularly lively here. Keep this in mind and pay attention when swimming and playing.

SKÅNELEDEN - HIKING THE EAST
The Skåne trail consists of 130 km of marked hiking trails throughout Skåne. The Skåneleden is divided into five different areas, which together include more than 100 different stages, all marked with orange markings.

Backaleden is a sister route to Skåneleden and runs through the idyllic landscape around Brösarp. Here you can walk over Brösarp's slopes, along Verkeån and through an ecopark. The back trail is excellent with orange markings, so you always know where to go. Along the hiking trails there are picnic areas with windbreaks, toilets, fireplaces and information boards.

STENSHUVUD NATIONAL PARK 
Stenshuvud is Sweden's southernmost national park and is known for the great variety of species that live here. The charm of Stenshuvud National Park is that you do not have to go far to see much.

The landscape is very varied with dry meadows, wet meadows, rich deciduous forest, wet deciduous forest, sandy beach and rocky beach. The park is 400 hectares in size, of which 80 hectares are sea, which makes Stenshuvud a popular destination even among divers. Stenshuvud consists of three different mountain peaks, of which the northern one is the highest, 97 meters above sea level. Here you have a magnificent view of Hanö Bay and in clear weather you can see the Danish island of Bornholm, as a blue shadow on the horizon in the southeast.

YSTAD ANIMAL PARK
Just outside Ystad you will find Ystad Zoo. A good excursion destination for families with children where you can cuddle with a variety of mammals and reptiles or swim in the heated outdoor pools. The animals include monkeys, meerkats, lemurs and reptiles, but also bison, moose, horses, pigs and rabbits.

ÖVEDSKLOSTER CASTLE
One of Sweden's foremost rococo castles, Övedskloster Castle is located right by Lake Vombsjön.

During the Middle Ages, there was a monastery here, hence the name, but this ceased during the Reformation and eventually ended up in private ownership. During the latter half of the 18th century, Hans Ramel had the old monastery buildings demolished and built the current castle according to drawings by Carl Hårleman.  Hans Ramel also laid out the roads and avenues and laid the foundation for the modern agriculture that is conducted at Övedskloster today.

Unique with Övedskloster is that it was built in a relatively short period of time during the second half of the 18th century, and has not changed since then. There is a lot to see in the castle and there is also a summer café and a market garden.
